The Pursuit of Happiness

Yellow is a happy color. One spring my husband looked around our neighborhood and said, "I like those yellow flowers. What are they called again?" "Daffodils," I replied. "Oh yeah," he said, "You should plant some."

Well, at that time, I was a little busy taking care of our three boys, who were all five years-old and younger. Needless to say, gardening wasn't on the top of my list. But that fall, something happened. My husband brought home several bags of daffodil bulbs and planted them around our yard. My husband is very much a manly-man, but there's just something about 'those yellow flowers' coming up after a cold winter that makes him happy. I, on the other hand, was just happy that I didn't have to do all of that planting. But I will admit, seeing the results of his labor every year (pictured above) does bring a smile to my face.

This gorgeous 'songbird quilt' bedding from Pottery Barn (above) will add a burst of sunshine to your bedroom even on a cloudy day. Below, a cheery yellow office (Behr Paint), could make paying bills a little more bearable.
